Dissolved Fe-binding organic ligands in the Mediterranean Sea - GEOTRACES GA04.

This data contains Fe-binding dissolved organic ligands that were sampled and analysed during two GEOTRACES cruises on board the Dutch R/V Pelagia in the Mediterranean Sea (Geotraces GA04). The southern cruise, PE370, started 14 May 2013 departing from Lisbon (Portugal) and ended in Istanbul (Turkey) on 05 June 2013. The northern cruise (N), PE374, left Istanbul on 25 July 2013 and ended in Lisbon on 11 August 2013. Samples were taken from the ultra-clean NIOZ CTD frame over the whole depth of the water column at 13 stations from the Atlantic Ocean (39.7N; -14.2W), the Mediterranean Sea to the Sea of Marmara. Samples were filtered over a 0.2 µm filter using N2 overpressure in a clean-air laboratory unit (Rijkenberg et al., 2015). Dissolved Fe binding organic ligands were characterized using competing ligand exchange adsorptive cathodic stripping voltammetry (CLE-aCSV) with 2-(2-Thiazolylazo)-p-cresol (TAC) as competing ligand (Croot and Johansson, 2000).
