The lower the detected copper concentration, the better the river water quality, which can serve as a reference for government regulatory work.

1. Data Source: Surface water samples were collected and tested in accordance with the standard *Water Quality — Determination of 65 Elements — Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry HJ 700-2014*.

2. Algorithm Rules: Calculate using the following formula:
ρ = (ρ₁ - ρ₂) × D × V₂ / V₁
Where:
ρ = Mass concentration of copper in the sample, unit: μg/L;
ρ₁ = Mass concentration of the target element in the calibration curve sample, unit: μg/L;
ρ₂ = Mass concentration of the target element in the laboratory blank sample, unit: μg/L;
D = Dilution factor;
V₁ = Sampling volume, unit: ml;
V₂ = Final volumetric volume, unit: ml.

3. Data Judgment: The judgment is made based on the Class III limit values specified in *Environmental Quality Standards for Surface Water*. If the copper concentration is ≤ 1.0 mg/L, the concentration of this indicator in the surface water is determined as qualified; otherwise, it is unqualified.

4. Data Application: By analyzing the mass concentration of copper in water samples, the water quality of the surface water can be evaluated, so as to prevent water quality issues caused by excessively high copper concentration and provide reference for regulatory work.
