A novel albino tea branch from Shandong

Off-white or yellowish shoots are common in tea plants (Camellia sinensis L.), and such albino variation is often accompanied by metabolic reprogramming, including increased contents of amino acids and lower levels of polyphenols. Nonetheless, the molecular mechanism(s) that underlie this albino variation remain to be fully clarified. Here, we performed short- and long-read RNA sequencing of a novel yellowish tea branch, as well as normal branches from the same tea plant, in order to better understand the molecular mechanisms in a novel albino tea branch.
