Peter E. Pieters worked as a geologist for the Bureau of Mineral Resources, now known as Geoscience Australia. During his career, Peter undertook extensive work in Papua New Guinea and spent the 1974/75 Summer Season in Antarctica where he visited nine outcrops in Enderby Land, and six outcrops in the Mawson Coast and Framnes Mountains area, as well as making traverses on Macquarie Island.
