With the objective of determining the impact that academic anxiety, self-concept, academic social skills, academic skills practice and motivation have on first-year university students' academic achievement, data were collected using adapted instruments. Anxiety measure started out as a forty-piece complete instrument, but after pilot testing, it was cut down to twenty-one. Then, one comprehensive anxiety instrument that covered all these bases was created. The other instruments have undergone similar validation procedures. The results led to the reduction of items based on their factor loading coefficients, which were.3. In this regard, academic self-concept was reduced from an 18-piece complete instrument to 13 after pilot testing, as were motivation (i.e., a mix of items from intrinsic and extrinsic motivation), academic skills practice (i.e., a mix of items from conventional learning kills and advanced study skills), and academic social skills (i.e., a mix of items from social initiation and cooperation). The internal consistency of each item was investigated using the inter-item to total correlation and Cronbach alpha approaches. On the other hand, the academic achievement results of students throughout the course of the previous two semesters were taken into consideration. The registrars and the students themselves provided data for the study. Along with receiving training on the tools used to collect data, research assistants also received information on how to approach individuals and obtain their informed consent. When they were gathering the data, they each made an effort to address questions and confusions. Every participant was completely free to choose whether to take part in the study or not. It was a thoroughly administered self-report given face-to-face and spent over the course of 20 to 30 minutes with each participant completing the response.
