Using a genome survey of single nucleotide polymorphisms, we document the extent of genetic differentiation and local adaptation in Japanese mantis shrimp Oratosquilla oratoria, a widely distributed species in the Northwestern Pacific. We further infer the potential evolutionary processes that may have shaped the adaptive landscape of O. oratoria. The implications of these results are also discussed as natural populations face unprecedented rates of environmental change.
