Effect of western diet on gut microbiome in papio anubis model

In the USA, the obesity epidemic continues to rise with 40 percent of adults being obese. Obesity is a complex trait, worsened by consuming a Western-style diet (WSD; high saturated fat, fructose rich). A WSD is linked to changes in the intestinal microbiome contributing to obesity with increased inflammation and metabolic disturbances. In this study we observe the effects of WSD during pregnancy in a non-human primate (NHP), baboon model.
