X-ray computed microtomography datasets obtained using stromatolites samples from Lake Ashenge, Tigray, Ethiopia

X-ray computed microtomography (X-ray µCT) datasets acquired from a sample of stromatolites growing over basalt at Lake Ashenge, Ethiopia. Data are presented as DICOM files with all associated metadata. X-ray µCT data were acquired using a Zeiss Xradia Versa 620 X-ray microscope (Korea Basic Science Institute Gwangju Centre, KJ318) operating at an energy of 80 kV, power of 10 W and equipped with an LE4 filter. The sample was rotated horizontally by a 180°+fan and scanned using the vertical stitching feature over 5 hours, acquiring 2401 projections at a voxel size of 6.7 µm. Tomograms were exported as DICOM files. DICOM data are suitable for 3D visualisation using most tomography visualisation software, e.g. Dragonfly.
