Reference sequences (RefSeq) of the Drosophila simulans genome. Drosophila simulans strain:mosaic

The Drosophila simulans reference sequence (Refseq) genome is provided by NCBI using WGS sequence and assembly instructions provided by the Genome Sequencing Center at the Washington University School of Medicine. Gene models are based on the GLEAN gene annotation provided by FlyBase. The Drosophila simulans reference assembly is a mosaic that includes sequence data from several different D. simulans lines. The 4x white501 (w501) assembled contigs were ordered and oriented based on alignment to the D. melanogaster genome. Assembled contigs from six other D. simulans lines (C167.4, MD106TS, MD199S, New Caledonia 48S, SIM4, and SIM6) were aligned to the w501 scaffolds and used to cover gaps in the w501 assembly where possible.
