THH introduces himself and talks about his family background. He explains how he got into the profession by assisting his father. He describes how Nikki's dyeing workshops operated at the time when the activity was still important, then explains the reasons for its decline. These are mainly related to the death or abandonment of the former practitioners, as well as the disdain of young people for loincloths and clothes from the past. He nevertheless notes a recent craze among young people for the tako outfit. When asked about the future of the dyeing activity, THH believes that it will depend on his own ability to continue and on how those he intends to raise awareness among will react. He would like to invite a few people to take up the trade or learn it. THH then describes how the dyeing process is learnt, then talks about the pride of being a dyer and the fact that practitioners can be recognised by their blackened hands. Finally, he claims to have never practised sacrifice in the workshop at the beginning of the season, contrary to what was done in other workshops across the country.
