R3PACK WP3 Dataset for Deliverable D3.4 - Decision-support model for reuse logistic network design

This dataset contains the input data used to implement and test the optimization model presented in Deliverable D3.4 (3.4 – Decision-support model for reuse logistic network design, University of Bologna) of the R3PACK project. The model supports the strategic design of closed-loop logistics networks for reusable food packaging. The Excel workbook includes data describing the main network entities: packaging producers, food packagers, distribution centers, stores, residential areas, reverse vending machines, and washing facilities, together with reusable packaging types and packaged food products. The dataset also reports the relationships and compatibility conditions between these entities, product demand, transport distances, facility and processing capacities, packaging return and scrap rates, and the main production, handling, washing, installation, and transportation cost parameters. The tables are structured according to the sets, subsets, and parameters of the mixed-integer linear programming model and constitute the database used to generate the model instance analyzed in the deliverable. ProductPackaging – Defines the bill of materials of each packaged product and the quantity of each component required. Component – Describes the model components and the assumed packaging return behaviour. DwellerDistrict – Lists the residential districts considered as origins of returned packaging flows. DistributionCenter – Contains the distribution centres and their inbound and outbound capacities. FoodPackager – Describes the food-packaging facilities, activation costs and processing capacities. Packaging – Reports the main technical parameters of reusable packaging, including scrap rate and pallet capacity. PackagingProducer – Lists the reusable-packaging production facilities and their activation costs. Product – Describes packaged products in terms of volume, weight, refrigeration requirements and pallet capacity. RVM – Contains the Reverse Vending Machine typologies, installation and operating costs, and compatibility information. Store – Lists the retail stores included in the logistics network. Transport – Describes the available transport mode, including cost, vehicle capacity and emission factors. WasherPackaging – Contains the washing facilities and their inbound and outbound capacities. Distances – Reports the distances between nodes.
