Based on the theory of elastic-plastic Fracture mechanics, the influence of fatigue crack closure on a new titanium alloy was studied by numerical method. Fatigue crack propagation rate tests were conducted on a new titanium alloy under different load ratios to investigate the effect of load ratios on fatigue crack propagation rate. By combining experimental results with simulation, the fatigue crack propagation rate considering crack closure is obtained, and it is verified that crack closure caused by the plastic zone at the crack tip is the main reason for the load ratio effect.
