资源简介:
This series contains heritage reports regarding railway assets owned by the State Rail Authority of New South Wales and its successor agency, the Rail Corporation of New South Wales. The reports relate to the heritage, architectural significance, and/or conservation management of significant railway assets including rolling stock (such as steam trains and track vehicles) and fixed assets (such as railway stations, workshops, signal boxes and other structures). Many of the reports were produced by external consultants and specialists, while others were created internally by State Rail employees. From 1995 onwards, these internal reports were produced by the State Rail Heritage Unit and, later, the Office of Rail Heritage. The items are arranged in various ways.Items [1] - [174] are arranged in chronological order and are mostly in the form of spiral-bound, printed reports, although a small number of items are in the form of correspondence files. Many of the reports include plans of the asset and some contain original photos. Items with the prefix 'SRA', 'COR' and 'F' are arranged in file numerical order and are in the form of individual files, which may contain reports, correspondence, plans, or original photographs. The heritage reports were produced until the Office of Rail Heritage closed in May 2013. (1)Custody HistoryFrom 1955 until 2000 the State Rail Authority of New South Wales maintained an ‘in house archives’ consisting of the archival records of the Authority, its predecessor agencies and the private railway companies taken over by the government. The date ranges of the records were from 1849 until 2000. When the decision was made to close the ‘State Rail Archives’ the parts of the collection that were required as State archives were transferred to the State Records Authority of NSW. Those record series were incorporated into the State Records series system of archives control and were re-numbered.This series was formerly part of the State Rail Archives collection where it was identified as series R302. It may have been viewed in the State Rail Archives as series R302 and could have been previously cited as such in notes by researchers at State Rail Archives or in publications or unpublished works.Endnote1.
