Dataset for: The use of remote sensing for studying environmental changes in a palsa mire zone of Northern Finland in the period 1985-2024

This study investigates long-term environmental changes in the marginal permafrost zone of northern Finland (1985–2024) using Landsat data, with a specific focus on palsa mire. By analysing multiple spectral indices (NDVI, NDWI, MNDWI, NDMI, LST) via PCA, LMM, and RDA modeling, the manuscript reveals a systematic increase in vegetation and soil moisture. Crucially, our findings demonstrate that palsa mires exhibit a distinct environmental trajectory that significantly differs from both mineral and non-palsa organic soils.
