Detention in Transit: Cross-Border Risks and Legal Protection

This ARGA Observatory report examines the risk of detention during international transit and the interaction between international alerts, domestic arrest powers and extradition procedures. Drawing on six judicial cases, it addresses the legal basis for detention, access to remedies and the significance of protection against removal. The practical analysis covers preparation before travel, the documents needed to clarify an individual’s status and the immediate steps required following detention.
