Expression regulation of rice genes under pulsed electrical field stimulation

Plants are frequently exposed into various external stimuli and as a result, plants will molecularly and physiologically response to these stimuli. In this project, rice plants were subjected to pulsed electrical field (PEF) stimulation. Leaf samples from rice plants were collected at 0, 0.5, 1, and 2 hr time intervals after PEF treatment for RNA preparation followed by RNA-Seq. The data analysis showed that more than one thousand of genes were up- or down-regulated by PEF treatment including genes encoding oxidoreductases and other enzymes which might contribute to the generation of superoxide anions.
