Aspergillus fumigatus is a primary and opportunistic fungal pathogen with causing severe and usually fatal invasive aspergillosis in immunocompromised patients. While other Aspergillus spp. including A. niger, A. flavus, etc., have been isolated as the cause of aspergillosis, the species of the section Fumigati (A. fumigatus complex) are most frequently reported. A series of recent studies highlighted the high prevalence of so-called cryptic Aspergillus species in clinical samples. The cryptic species exhibit the susceptibility to the azoles and amphotericin B. It is said that the actual prevalence of the cryptic species may be underestimated because the diagnostic approaches have been poorly established. The aim of this study is to provide a draft sequence of A. pseudoviridinutans IFM 55266 T and the knowledge of the features of the cryptic species.
