Hot spots and blind spots: mapping themes, research gaps and biases in global river temperature science

This repository contains the coded bibliometric database underpinning the study “Hot spots and blind spots: mapping themes, research gaps and biases in global river temperature science.” The dataset comprises 529 primary-focus peer-reviewed studies on river and stream water temperature (Tw) published between 1990 and July 2025. The dataset was compiled from Web of Science and Scopus using a predefined, reproducible search protocol, followed by duplicate removal and manual eligibility screening. Only studies classified as having a primary focus on river/stream water temperature were retained.This resource supports replication of figures, cross-dimensional analyses, network mapping, and further meta-analyses of global Tw research patterns.
