Supporting Information for "Burst Timing of the SYM-H Index: Elementary Lifetimes, Exact Identities, and Their Solar-Cycle Variation"
收藏资源简介:
Every negative excursion of the 1-min SYM-H index below a threshold *u* is resolved into six timing metrics. Three are elementary and non-overlapping — the **growth lifetime** τ_g (downward threshold crossing → first attainment of the minimum), the **recovery lifetime** τ_r (minimum → upward crossing), and the **quiet lifetime** τ_q (upward crossing → next downward crossing). The other three are their exact sums: the **burst lifetime** τ_b = τ_g + τ_r, the **waiting lifetime** τ_w = τ_b + τ_q, and the **interpeak lifetime** τ_i (minimum → next minimum), which telescopes to the same mean as τ_w. Only three of the six means are independent, and the burst-to-waiting ratio reproduces the level-crossing identity ⟨τ_b⟩/⟨τ_w⟩ = C(u) = P(SYM-H ≤ u). The record spans 1981-01-01 to 2026-05-31 (solar cycles 21–25). This archive contains the derived six-metric event catalogs, the windowed and pooled fit tables, the robustness and ground-truth validation results underlying all figures of the paper, the perturbation tables behind main-text Table 2, and a MATLAB script that redraws the figures from these tables alone. The underlying geomagnetic index is the property of the World Data Center for Geomagnetism, Kyoto, and is not redistributed here (see Data Sources below); the catalogs and tables in this archive are derived products.
