Epilepsy and Exercise Research (2000–2025): A Bibliometric Dataset

This dataset contains bibliometric records on epilepsy and exercise research retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection, covering the period from 2000 to 2025.

The search strategy combined epilepsy-related terms with exercise and physical activity concepts. Sequential database-level filters were applied, including publication years (2000–2025), document types (articles and review articles), index categories (SCI-Expanded and SSCI), and English language restriction.

All records were exported in plain text format and processed using the bibliometrix R package. During preprocessing, records assigned to the publication year 2026 were excluded to ensure a closed time window. Records without abstracts (n = 21) and records without Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) (n = 192) were removed. Duplicate records were checked based on unique Web of Science identifiers, and no duplicates were identified.

The final dataset consists of 6,471 publications and was used for all bibliometric analyses.

This dataset is accompanied by an R script that enables full reproducibility of the analyses, including descriptive bibliometric indicators, keyword co-occurrence networks, thematic mapping, and trend topic analysis.

The dataset provides a comprehensive overview of the intellectual structure, research trends, and thematic evolution of epilepsy and exercise research, and can be used for replication studies, secondary analyses, and methodological applications in bibliometric research.
