Photograph. "Librarian Marjory Hopper gets a hand on moving day -- A group of school children hlep move books from first van, left. -- Book vehicle's last trip: 'Little toot' retires -- After 11 years of faithful service to 13 Los Angeles city elementary schools, 'Little toot,' the mobile library unit, has been retired and replaced by a larger and newer facility. -- The transfer took place Tuesday at the Union Avenue School Playground. Librarian Marjory Hopper was assisted in moving the books by children of the school. -- The new library will carry some 3500 books, ranging from first to sixth grade levels, about 1000 more books than were available aboard 'Little toot.' -- Jay Leanse, vice president of the Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce, one of the sponsoring groups for the increased library project, was on hand for the ceremonies in conjunction with National Library Week." -- Examiner clipping attached to verso, dated 6 April 1960.
