DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION IN MODERN FOOTBALL: A CASE STUDY ON VAR TECHNOLOGY AND PLAYER MONITORING SYSTEMS

The rapid integration of digital technology has significantly transformed professional football, especially through systems such as the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) and player monitoring tools. These technologies aim to support fairer officiating, improve match decision-making, and optimize athlete performance by using real-time data, artificial intelligence, and computer vision. This study was conducted as a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to analyze the effectiveness, challenges, and technological evolution of VAR and player tracking systems used in elite-level football across the globe. This uploaded ZIP file contains selected PDF documents used during the SLR process. A total of 50 peer-reviewed papers published between 2021 and 2025 were used as primary sources for analysis. The papers were obtained through institutional access and academic databases, and are provided here for the purpose of academic documentation, transparency, and internal reference only. These documents are not to be distributed commercially. All intellectual property belongs to their respective publishers and authors.
