we retrieved mitochondrial genome of an ancient camel material collected from northwestern China. We revealed its precise phylogenetic position and estimated the TMRCA of Camelus bactrianus. Meanwhile, combined with the available historiography and archaeological literatures, we tried to explore the impact of the ancient Silk Road on the domestic Bactrian camel at the molecular level
