This study investigates the therapeutic potential of the probiotic Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 (EcN) in alleviating obesity and insulin resistance. Male C57BL/6J mice were subjected to a 12-week dietary intervention involving a high-fat diet (HFD) with or without EcN supplementation. Fecal microbiota composition was analyzed via 16S rRNA gene sequencing (V3-V4 region) to determine how EcN treatment modulates the HFD-induced dysbiosis, specifically focusing on the Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes ratio and abundances of Muribaculaceae and Bilophila. This data supports the finding that EcN ameliorates metabolic dysfunction by modulating the gut-adipose axis.
