资源简介:
This collection comprises images from historic building recording work at Bargus Farm, Nancegollan, Helston, Cornwall. This work was undertaken by Statement Heritage May to November 2021. The photographic and documentary recording was accompanied by historic research and archaeological analysis of building. This project has recorded and advanced understanding of the dwelling, which is today a single family home, but historically was two cottages dating to c1800 which was built for mineworking families who supplemented their mining incomes through smallholdings, a pattern common to the mining areas across Cornwall. The pattern of development in the setting of the building, with the modernisation of its outbuildings during the 19th and 20th centuries, probably reflected its consolidation into a single farm. Alterations to the building include its extension to the rear and the gentrification of its parlour and later 20th century works which have eroded its historic characteristics.
