The study focuses on understanding the transcriptional changes and the pathways altered when human cancer (fibrosarcoma ) cells are subjected to telomere elongation. HT1080 human fibrosarcoma cell line was subjected to telomere elongation by constitutive overexpression of TERT and TERC components of the telomerase holoenzyme ( Lingner et al., 2006). The cells were characterized for telomere length and found to have about 2.5-fold longer telomeres and were designated as HT1080- long telomeres (HT1080-LT). Total RNA extracted from HT1080 cells (short telomeres) and HT1080-LT ( long telomeres) cells were sequenced using the Illumina Hiseq 2000 platform.
