Snow cover is an important water resource. This dataset uses high-spatial-resolution monthly-scale precipitation and air temperature data as input, and applies the degree-day model to calculate snow accumulation and melt water volume. By validating the model outputs against snowfall, snow depth, snow cover extent and snow water equivalent, the monthly-scale snow melt water data of China with high spatial resolution (0.5 arcminute, approximately 1 km) from 1951 to 2020 was derived. The geospatial coverage of the dataset is mainland China, excluding regions such as the South China Sea islands and reefs, etc.
