Menopause - when estrogen (E2) levels are decreased - is associated with a loss of skeletal muscle mass and strength. We performed genome-wide expression profiling to identify the underlying mechanisms. Female mice were ovariectomized and treated with E2 (pellets releasing 0.18 mg of E2 over 60 days) or placebo (Plac = control).
