The study aims to investigate functions of PfNOT1.1 in regulating mRNA decay in the malaria parasite, P. falciparum. To achieve this goal, transcription was blocked by actinomycin D (actD) and the transcriptional profilling of parasites was analyzed by microarray technology. The endogenous PfNot1.1 was disrupted. The transgenic line and the wildtype line were treated with actD to block transcription or DMSO as a control for four hours. Transcriptional profiling of initial parasites at 24 hpi, parasites treated with actD and parasites treated with DMSO was assessed by microarray.
