NYS Geocoder

<p><span style='font-size:11.0pt;'>The NYS Geocoder is a single composite address locator which replaces the legacy Street and Address Composite, Street NoNum and Zip Code Composite and NYPlace locator services. The NYS Geocoder has several key improvements over the legacy services, including:</span></p><ul><li><span style='font-size:11.0pt;'>Ease and speed of use</span><ul><li><span style='font-size:11.0pt;'>Records that do no geocode are no longer required to be exported and run through a second or third locator to find a potential match.</span></li><li><span style='font-size:11.0pt;'>New composite is made up of fewer total locators when compared to the previous geocoding service.</span></li></ul></li><li><span style='font-size:11.0pt;'>NYS Geocoding Service is faster than the legacy service, meaning shorter geocoding and wait times for users.</span></li><li><span style='font-size:11.0pt;'>New functionality:</span><ul><li><span style='font-size:11.0pt;'>Geocoding to subaddresses</span></li><li><span style='font-size:11.0pt;'>Geocoding to Points of Interest</span></li><li><span style='font-size:11.0pt;'>Suggest functionality (type ahead) provides users with potential options as they type, reducing keystrokes.</span></li></ul></li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><span style='font-size:11.0pt;'>Please note there are changes to the service URL, input fields, and output fields with the NYS Geocoder service. There are additional documents available with resources for developers using the NYS Geocoder in web pages and applications, as well as instructions on how to load the NYS Geocoder into GIS software.&nbsp;</span></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><span style='font-size:11.0pt;'>The NYS Geocoder is updated twice per month, on the second and fourth Friday, between 5:00 and 5:30 am. It is recommended to avoid running batch geocoding jobs during this window as the process will fail when the locator is taken offline for updates.</span></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><span style='font-size:11.0pt;'>The NYS Geocoder is supported during business hours, Monday – Friday, 7:00 am to 4:30 pm. If an issue occurs outside of business hours, please contact Geospatial Services and we will investigate the issue as soon as possible.&nbsp;</span></p>
