Mixtures of volcanic ash and stratospheric sulfate aerosol (SSA) have been observed by the Atmospheric Chemistry Experiment (ACE), a remote sensing satellite mission in operation since 2004. The paritcle median radii and line-of-sight column densities for ash-sulfate mixed aerosol has been determined from atmospheric infrared transmittance spectra for ACE measurements following the Calbuco eruption of 2015 and the Puyehue-Cordon Caulle eruption of 2011.
