The Worldwide Governance Indicators (WGI) is a comprehensive database released by the World Bank, covering governance status assessments for over 200 economies across the globe. It offers six dimensions of governance indicators: Voice and Accountability, Political Stability and Absence of Violence/Terrorism, Government Effectiveness, Regulatory Quality, Rule of Law, and Control of Corruption. The dataset draws on 35 cross-national data sources spanning from 1996 to 2024, including household surveys, enterprise surveys and expert assessments, and is updated annually via a composite indicator methodology.
