This study sought to assess links between switchgrass rhizosphere 16S communities and the exometabolites found in the same samples, by growing switchgrass under varying nitrogen, phosphorus, or water stress and observing how changes in 16S community corresponded to changes in exometabolite chemistry observed in the rhizsphere. This study was performed in a greenhouse, using sandy loam soils collected from Oklahoma and reconstituted in soil columns at the University of California before having switchgrass grown in them for 5 months preceding a destructive harvest.
