Our work is highly informative for how sunlight may induce skin cancer in humans.To simulate close to sunlight, we have irradiated cells with UVA-light (~95% of UV onsunlight). Most of the work previously done is based on UVC and UVB, due to historicaland technical reasons, although specificity of UVA is clear (compared to UVB and UVC),as many groups have previously reported, including protein oxidation and DNA repairinhibition. But also, the methodological strategy used (of cloning cells) was the first toevaluate direct mutations on exome (NGS) scale, which allowed to make conclusions ondetails that were not obvious after previous mutation studies on few and small genes.
