Affordances at the Water's Edge: Gopi Talav, Surat

This dataset supports the research paper "Affordances at the Water's Edge: Reading Everyday Action in Gopi Talav." It contains field observation data collected at Gopi Talav, Surat, India during January–April 2026, including behavioural mapping diagrams documenting patterns of occupation, movement, and avoidance across the water-edge ring; site photographs documenting spatial conditions and everyday user behaviour across six thematic zones; sky porosity analysis documenting canopy cover distribution around the 670-metre perimeter; and sectional drawings of water-edge conditions. Data was collected as part of a study applying Gibson's Theory of Affordances to read everyday behavioural patterns at a historic urban lake redeveloped as a public park in 2015.
