Water salinity and oxygen isotope data in the Belcher Islands Archipelago, Southeast Hudson Bay, 2014-2016

The purpose of the data collection was to study the winter oceanographic conditions and ice-ocean interactions in the coastal corridor in southeast Hudson Bay. The presence of freshwater can impact sea ice formation and ice properties as well as ice related processes such as depth of winter mixing. The amount of freshwater circulating in the coastal corridor in winter is not known but has very likely increased in recent decades as the winter river discharges associated with hydroelectric regulation have increased.
