This dataset contains socio-economic statistical data for cities and counties in Jiangsu Province in 2007. It was compiled using the *Jiangsu Statistical Yearbook 2008* accessed via China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and other supplementary statistical materials. The dataset covers multiple thematic categories including population, employed personnel, gross domestic product (GDP), transportation, completed fixed asset investment, culture and public health, fiscal revenue, science, technology and education, and more. Specific indicators include: number of on-duty staff and workers (in ten thousand persons), rural employed personnel (in ten thousand persons), local GDP (in ten thousand yuan), total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery (in ten thousand yuan), number of industrial enterprises (units), total industrial output value (in ten thousand yuan), highway passenger traffic volume (in ten thousand persons), highway freight traffic volume (in ten thousand tons), urban fixed asset investment (in ten thousand yuan), number of public libraries (units), total holdings of public libraries (in thousands of volumes), number of health institutions (units), number of hospital beds, number of health technical personnel (persons), and local general public budget revenue (in ten thousand yuan). All data corresponds to the year 2007, and the dataset is distributed in Excel format.
