资源简介:
The submitted dataset is in support of the manuscript submitted entitled, "Symbiotic algae of Hydra viridissima plays a key role in maintaining homeostatic bacteria colonization". The data comprises of 16S rDNA sequencing from Hydra viridissima under different symbiotic background and different cultivation conditions. The conclusion drawn from the data shows the complexity of interactions between the endosymbiotic algae and the bacterial symbionts of Hydra. The Chlorella algae shapes the microbiome composition of the host. In absence of algae, invasive Legionella species colonizes and dominates the host. Moreover, upon co-cultivation of aposymbiotic animals and the symbiotic animals, it migrates actively towards the later and colonizes the host. This bacterium is fitness costly to the host. It induces an increased release of the algal symbionts in the ambient water and thus more algae colonizes the aposymbiotic animals. Eventual spread of algae proves to be detrimental for the Legionella bacterium leading to a drastic reduction in the abundance. we could thus show the protective role of the algal symbiont in maintaing the stable microbiome composition of the host and keeping the invasive bacterium at bay.
