MAPPING THE INTERMEZZO FOR SALON ORCHESTRA IN EARLY TWENTIETH-CENTURY ITALY: THE ITALIAN NATIONAL LIBRARY SERVICE AND THE ETTORE 'MO' COLLECTION
收藏资源简介:
This dataset collects the bibliographic records of printed intermezzos published in Italy between 1890 and 1960, as catalogued in OPAC SBN, the online union catalogue of the Italian National Library Service (https://opac.sbn.it). It supports the macro-level analysis of the article ‘Mapping the Intermezzo for Salon Orchestra in Early Twentieth-Century Italy: The Italian National Library Service and the “Mo” Collection’, *Fontes Artis Musicae* (forthcoming). The corpus was built by searching OPAC SBN for the keyword *intermezz?* (the wildcard covers singular and plural) and the French equivalent *entr’acte*. The search was restricted to printed music published in Italy between 1890 and 1960. It was first run in April 2025 and updated in September 2026. The search returned 2,507 records. Each record was checked by hand and flagged for inclusion or exclusion. Excluded records are duplicates, pieces for solo piano, piano reductions of orchestral intermezzos, entries lacking any indication of an original orchestral version, pieces for non-orchestral small ensembles such as mandolin or wind quintets, and records no longer present in the catalogue. After filtering, 1,537 titles make up the working corpus of the study. Excluded records are kept in the file so that the selection can be checked and reused. Each record is also cross-referenced with two collections held at the Library of the Conservatorio ‘Giuseppe Verdi’ in Milan: the Mo collection (MO-ML), mapped by the MAPSEM project, and the MULEG collection. The MAPSEM data for the Mo collection are published separately by the MAPSEM project.
