As’ad Ṣiddîḳî DAWWÂNÎ (d. A.H. 907 or 908). Cf. Ḥ. Kh. iv. 217, and Catal. St. Petersb. 225. This work was printed, together with a commentary on it, at Constantinople, A.H. 1233. The author’s preface begins: یا من وفقنا لتحقیق العقائد الاسلامیة، و عصمنا من التقلید فی الاصول و الفروع الکلامیة. The commentary, omitting Îjî’s preface, begins with the words قال النبی عم. Plainly written, by Ilyâs b. Shaikh Farîd, of Fatḥpûr-Sîkrî (فی بلدة السیکری المعروف بفتحبور), for his own use. Date, end of Rabî’ I., 990. Cat. 225, x.
