We identified the genes regulated by VCAM-1 in atherosclerotic macrophages. We selected some of these genes based on their expression and further evaluated their functions using a wide array of techniques. Bone marrow chimeric Ldlr KO mice were generated by transplanting LysM+/+ Vcam1fl/fl or LysMcre/+ Vcam1fl/fl bone marrow. We sorted macrophages from atherosclerotic plaques of these mice. mRNA was extracted from these samples and bulk RNA sequencing was performed.
