We sequenced the complete genome of Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) strain VE/138/05. It belongs to the subgenotype 1a. In the sample has been found the co-presence of both biotypes, non-cytophatic (ncp) and cytophatic (cp) of the BVDV-1a strain VE/138/05. The complete non-cytophatic (ncp) genome is 12258 nucleotides (nt); the open reading frame is 11694 nt, coding 3898 amino acids. The complete cytophatic (cp) genome is 12,681 nucleotides (nt) it includes a 423 bp insertion of bovin polyubiquitin located into NS2/3 protein sequence; the open reading frame is 12117 nt, coding 4039 amino acids.
