Badania ludzkich szczątków kostnych z cmentarzyska birytualnego z Opola-Groszowic [Research on human skeletal remains from the biritual cemetery in Opole-Groszowice]

A total of human bones from the biritual cemetery in Opole-Groszowice, site number 110 (AZP 90-37/41), from 33 graves, including 32 cremations and one skeletal grave (grave 154), were subjected to anthropological research. Most osteological materials were characterized by a poor state of preservation and an overrepresentation of fragments of long bone shafts in the case of cremated materials. Skeletal materials from grave 154 were preserved only in the form of fragments of the skull vault.

During anthropological analyses, the weight of human and animal bones was measured, the degree of burning, color and type of bone splitting were determined, the minimum number of individuals (MNI), sex and age at death of individuals were estimated, and basic paleodemographic indices were calculated. In addition, the body strature was reconstructed and paleopathological lesions were identified. For the individual from grave 154, analyzes were carried out to determine the paleodiet.
