资源简介:

In Mozambique, the 2022–2023 rainy season brought with it above average rainfall, flash flooding and events that have led to the destruction of infrastructure and loss of lives. Between 7 and 11 February 2023, heavy rains of up to 100 mm in 24 hours hit the southern region of the country, causing widespread flooding in Maputo City and Maputo region. On 25 February, tropical storm Freddy made landfall, as a moderate tropical storm, over Mozambique. The Data in Emergencies team at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) examined the satellite images from an extended time period, starting in February, including both the days when tropical cyclone Freddy was present and after to understand the impact. This StoryMap provides an assessment of the potential impacts of those floods on agriculture and livelihoods in Mozambique.
