Samples from Site 48I2J2068 in the Wyoming Basin were examined for pollen
and macrofloral remains. This site is an early Uinta Phase Late Prehistoric
site, made up of one or more short-term camps. There also appears to be same
Fremont influence. One radiocarbon date of 1880 + 130 BP has been obtained.
Five flotation samples were collected from features, and three pieces of
groundstone were washed for pollen. In addition, four surface samples were
collected to provide a thorough understanding of the relationship between the
modern vegetation and the pollen record in different ecotones and to provide a
control for the groundstone washes. Pollen and macrofloral analysis will help
to identify food processing activities at this site.
