Eurobarometer 13 (Apr 1980)

The 3 major topics of this Eurobarometer are:

1. The mood and satisfaction of the population in the EC countries,

2. The extent to which the public is informed about problems of the
European Community,

3. The attitude to the EC and to admission of new countries.

Topics: 1. Mood and satisfaction of the Europeans: general and
occupational satisfaction; satisfaction with income; expected
development of the general standard of living in the country;
assessment of the danger of a new world war; attitude to reform or
preservation of the social system; judgement on the development and the
condition of the region in economic and cultural areas; mobility
readiness due to better living conditions in other regions; preferences
in the financial support of underdeveloped regions in one´s country as
well as at EC level.

2. Extent to which the public is informed about problems of the
European Community: personal interest in the problems of the community;
judgement on personal knowledge regarding international problems;
importance of problems of the EC; preferred sources of information
about EC problems; media usage.

3. Attitude to the EC: attitude to unification of Western Europe;
attitude to membership of one´s own country in the EC; attitude to the
intent of the three Southern European countries Greece, Spain and
Portugal to join; personal visits to these countries.

4. Miscellaneous: preferred foreign and defense policy of one´s own
country; attitude to foreign aid; frequency of political discussions in
one´s circle of friends; personal opinion leadership; self-assessment
on a left-right continuum; party preference (Sunday question);
religiousness.

Demography: age; marital status; religious denomination; school
education; employment; company size; household income; household size;
head of household; degree of urbanization; city size; state.
