Fertilizer Trial

This file contained data collected on a Nitrogen and Potassium addition trial established on the Tierberg Karoo Research Centre site in April 1998. The trial comprises 5 x 5 m plots with three randomly allocated replicates of the following treatments, N, K, N+K, Control. Nutrients were added in dry form at the rate of 10 g/square meter twice annually (April and September) from 1998 to 2008. The SE corner of each plot (2 x 2 m) was cleared of all above-ground vegetation in April 1998. The trial was originally established to test the hypothesis that the difference in the vegetation on and off heuweltjies (Microhodotermes viator nest areas) is caused by N and K availability rather than physical disturbance.
