This study investigated trends in microbial diversity below the seafloor. Marine sediment up to 335 meters below seafloor was analyzed for microbial DNA (bacterial and archaeal 16S rDNA). Two main sites are presented, one from the Bering Sea and one from the Indian Ocean.
