The aim of this study was to gain knowledge about observation in the theory and practice of education. Through a questionnaire to pedagogy teachers, practical training supervisors and kindergarten managers the observation methods that are considered relevant in the BLU and kindergarten were examined. The study was conducted as part of Johanna Birkeland's PhD on observation in kindergarten teacher education and in kindergarten. After posting the survey, an error was found in the questions 'Vurder hvor relevant de ulike metodene er i utdanningen av barnehagelærer' and 'Vurder hvor relevant de ulike metodene er til bruk i barnehagen'', where Marte Meo, DUÅ was not separated in the answer alternatives. They should have been, as in the questions of use, and this must be taken into account in the analysis of data.
