Myocardial infarction (MI) is the most common emergency manifestation of cardiovasculardisease. In the clinic, reperfusion is the only effective way to resolve ischemic injury, yet thelost myocardium is replaced by fibrotic scars, leading to cardiac dysfunction and lifethreateningcomplications. Various therapeutic approaches, such as cell transplantation, exosomes, and cardiac patches, have been explored to treat MI with varying degrees of success. However, therapeutic options to prevent, slow and reverse MI progression remain greatly limited. We designed a nanomedicine can reprogram MI microenvironment by converting detrimental substances (H+, ROS and hypoxia) into beneficial elements (O2 and H2O) in heart ischemia model of mice.
